Two weeks until Opening Day! That is not a lot of time to find a daycare with any availability.

A couple fresh updates today! First, we've added some more scorecards to our Keeper's Gallery. Thanks to @BryanneIsInRF, @blcartwright, and @Kev315 for the submissions.

An additional, special thanks to @Kev315, aka Kevin Baez, for sending in the first contribution for our repository of Downloadable Scorecards! We're hoping to grow this out over the life of the website, so if you have any originals to add, feel free to send them our way. We readily acknowledge that the long-time leader in this regard is the excellent The Baseball Scorecard, but sadly, it appears that page hasn't been updated in about a decade, so we're happy to carry the torch going forward. (We've also reached out to Patrick McGovern, who ran the site, to talk about the possibility of hosting those cards here, but have yet to hear anything.) In the meantime, check out Kev's card and feel free to print it and bring it to the park if you like it!

Hazard Pay: A Scorekeepers Union Pledge

We've been following the recent story of the kid nearly decapitated by the flying bat but for the quick reactions of his hero dad. First off: well done, sir! And this looks like one of those all's-well scenarios.

It got us thinking, though: this seems like the sort of thing that constitutes a frequent occupational hazard for scorekeepers. (Not for us, personally: our seats are never that close to the action. We cheap.) But we thought about how often we're staring at our books during a game, and when you add social media to the mix it's actually surprising you don't see more scorekeepers on the DL due to flying fieldstuffs.

So in light of this incident, we make the following solemn pledge: we promise to buy any scorekeeper injured by field debris in the line of duty (i.e., while keeping score!) one (1) helmet sundae. You know, of reasonable size. No helmets the size of swimming pools. We're on a budget. But you can pick the flavor and the toppings!

If you're unfortunate enough to have this happen to you, tweet us the proof and we'll send you sundae fund(ae)s. Of course, we can't help you with your medical bills, so our best advice is stay alert out there! But in our experience, we've found ice cream makes everything a little better.
